The Hospice of the Calumet Area’s staff of highly qualified nurses, social workers, clergy, and volunteers work in partnership with the patient, family, and their personal physician to make the final period of life comfortable and peaceful.

Hospice is considered the model for high quality, compassionate care at the end-of-life.  It actually costs Americans less, too. Those receiving hospice care cost the Medicare program about $2300 less per patient than those that did not amounting to +$2 billion annually.  Yet, lawmakers want to cut reimbursements to providers.  Showing your support takes less than 5 minutes.

In his book, Last Acts, Dr. David Casarett explores these and many other questions as he considers how we use our time when that time is limited.  Dr. Casarett, who is an acclaimed physician, researcher, and tenured Associate Professor at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, will speak at a public forum on March 9th at The Center for Visual & Performing Arts.

Run to Remember chooses 2 Chicago events as “Spotlight Races”

Why just run when you can “Run with a Reason”?  Run to Remember has chosen the Bank of America Rock ‘n Roll 1/2 marathon on August 1 & the Bank of America Chicago Marathon on October 10 as two of their national spotlight races.  These spotlight races will give participants V.I.P. privilages while raising money for Hospice of the Calumet Area and the National Hospice Foundation.
