Creative Arts Volunteer

Hospice of the Calumet Area has several important roles filled by our volunteers.  These volunteers are men and women, young and old, from the communities that we serve.

If you’re interested in participating or have further questions, please call Cynthia Camp at 219-922-2732 or email her at: ccamp@hospicecalumet.org.

Closely Knitters

This group meets once a month to knit or crochet prayer shawls.  The volunteers bring their yarn and patterns and pray or think supportive thoughts as the work on their projects.  Lessons are available.

“Must Have Bags”

“Must Have Bags” are custom-made, handcrafted bags that are either knitted or sewn.  These bags have a “designer look” and sell at our “Care to Share Gifts” for $45 and up.

You must be experienced in sewing and/or knitting.  If interested, please contact Lydia Dershewitz at 219-934-9469.

Pet Pals

Volunteers meet once a month and make yarn kittens.

Volunteers can work from home once they are able to make the kittens.  Volunteers may help deliver these Pet Pals to Hospice patients.

Let’s Celebrate

Volunteers bakers spread good wishes and cheer by making Birthday and Anniversary cakes for Hospice patients and their spouses.  Hospice workers deliver the cakes when they make their regular visits.

hca² – Hospice Card Artisans

If you’re the “artistic type”, this is the ultimate.  These volunteers create high-quality handcrafted cards.  Each card is a piece of artwork and suitable for framing.

This program is self-supported by the artists involved.  If interested, please contact Lydia Dershewitz at 219-934-9469.
