Grief Support

Hospice of the Calumet Area offers an extensive bereavement program.

Loss is a fact of life for everyone and can be the most challenging experience we face.  Loss may affect our ability to cope with the pressures of home and work.  Grief work can help us to make healthy adjustments.

Our bereavement program provides:

  • A grief support group called “Healing Hearts”
  • Written educational materials on grief and bereavement for all ages
  • Monthly mailings
  • Telephone support
  • Referrals to community services
  • Short term counseling and support services.

Anyone in the community is welcome to participate in our bereavement program.  If you would like additional information or need help, please contact Dorothy Poma , Bereavement Coordinator.

Healing Hearts for Kids

Healing Hearts for Kids is a newly created bereavement group for children between 6 and 12 years of age facilitated by Susan Adrians, LPC and sponsored by Hospice of the Calumet Area.

Susan uses her years of experience as a Certified Grief Recovery Specialist in a program specifically designed to help children share opportunities of common grief experiences and learn about the grief process.
