Former Transitions Coordinator on Good Morning America & Life Part 2
Former Transitions Coordinator Mary Ann Becklenberg noticed memory lapses while working at Hospice of the Calumet Area. Three years ago she was diagnosed with Early Alzheimer’s and has since become a national spokesperson and inspiration to many touched with this disease. She appeared on GMA on 1 /13/2010 to promote an upcoming PBS show “Life Part 2″ which will feature her. She also participated on our team walk for the Alzheimer’s and Dementia Services Walk (see video below).

Lil Lear Memorial Bike Run, 9-12-2009
For the third year, the family of Lillie M. Lear pooled their resources and friends to honor her memory and raise funds for Hospice of the Calumet Area. The Third Annual Lil Lear Memorial Poker Run was held in Lynwood, IL, with a total of 162 motorcycle owners and passengers as well as 275 supporters.
This year, riders and volunteers wore blue T-shirts filled with black sponsor logos. The 2009 Poker Run raised more than $3,500 for HCA programs and services, surpassing last year’s total by $1,300! We are grateful to the Lear family and friends for their hard work that translates into generous support of our hospice programs.
