Hospice Sabbath

Hospice Sabbath is an outreach effort initiated by hospices and endorsed by a growing list of faith communities. The observance encourages communities of faith to remember in prayer persons who live with hope and dignity in the face of life-limiting illness, as well as those who care for them. Through this observance, we hope to affirm you and your community as you continue to care and support members living with life-limiting illness, to educate about hospice care, and to strengthen the relationships we have with faith communities.

In addition, we have trained members of our professional and volunteer staff to present a “Hospice Minute” or “Temple Talk”, which is a brief presentation about their ministry in hospice. We have asked those trained staff members to contact the leader of their faith community to offer to speak at a gathering that weekend. If you know of a hospice worker in your community, please encourage him or her to present a “Hospice Minute”. Because of our limited staff resources, if you are interested in scheduling a speaker please let us know as soon as possible

Please feel free to contact us if there are questions or concerns about your faith community’s participation in Hospice Sabbath. We will be happy to support and assist you in whatever way we can. We look forward to the possibility of opening new avenues of partnership with you in responding to persons who live with terminal illness.
