The Friends of Hospice (FOH) is the fundraising auxiliary of Hospice of the Calumet Area.
In 1982, a fledgling group of local women in formed “the Friends” with a desire to financially assist the Calumet area’s first hospice agency. Since then, FOH membership has grown to approximately 200 supporters who live throughout Northwest Indiana and neighboring Illinois communities. Our contributions have grown accordingly, totaling more than $900,000 for Hospice of the Calumet Area! With many generous members, we anticipate that our annual contributions will remain strong.
The Friends of Hospice host two fundraising events each year. In May, we sponsor the Seeds of Hope, at which hundreds of guests enjoy dinner, a silent auction and raffle, and in October, we hold a luncheon named Mum’s the Word. Each event recognizes the outstanding dedication and commitment of the Hospice Team. FOH members participate in many ways to make these activities successful.
We ask each member to contribute the talents that she feels ready, willing and able to provide. Historically, every effort has been made to encourage FOH members to participate at whatever level they choose.
The end result – through warm, congenial friend-raising and fundraising – is outstanding support for Hospice of the Calumet Area. It is with pride that we volunteer our time and talent for this invaluable non-profit organization that serves individuals and families facing life-limiting illnesses.
